-          Saffron – (saf-RHUN) a spice derived from the flower commonly known as the saffron crocus. It is bitter in taste and has a hay-like fragrance.

Couscous – (koos-koos) a Berber dish of semolina traditionally served with a meat or vegetable stew spooned over it. Couscous is a staple food throughout Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.
